The Slick Vaporizer is Flowermate’s newest convection / conduction hybrid with a removable 18650 battery and residue resistant black ceramic chamber. Let’s take a look inside!
Magnetic Mouthpiece Cover
The Slick’s mouthpiece cover connects magnetically at the top of the unit to keep out any dust or pocket debris. Magnetic connections can’t wear down like threading plus they’re fun to play with after using this Slick vape.
Borosilicate Glass Mouthpiece
The mouthpiece is comprised of 2 sections: a connective base and a borosilicate glass mouthpiece. The stainless steel screen fits between the two to keep out ABV.
Removable 18650 Battery
You can easily remove and swap out the Slick’s flat top 18650 battery by unscrewing the metal cover at the base of the unit. The cover piece acts as the negative connection between the battery and unit and is vented in case of battery failure.
2500 mAh Battery Capacity
The Slick vaporizer includes a custom wrapped 18650 battery with ICR chemistry, 2500 mAh charge capacity, and a max output of 20 amps. 2500 mAh is good for around an hour of vaping on a full charge which is standard for single 18650 vapes. 20A output is huge – we’re not positive how much of that amperage the Slick utilizes but it’s able to fully heat in a little over half a minute: very respectable.
Laminated Carbon Fiber Exterior
The body of the Flowermate Slick is made of aluminum with a protective layer of carbon fiber laminate over top. Raw aluminum is lightweight and impact resistant but prone to surface scratching. Laminated carbon fiber is much more scratch-resistant and light surface scratches are barely visible.

The point of no return. We shoved a scientific grade screwdriver into the top piece and pried it out scientifically. The top piece is made of two hard plastic sections surrounding the mouthpiece magnet.
We were able to pry out the Flowermate Slick’s button enclosure without any damage. In the opening you can see the oval shaped actuator that registers button presses.
Shelling the Slick
Here’s where things got difficult – the internal chassis is friction fitted inside the aluminum and carbon fiber body. The chassis fit too tightly to remove by force so we had to bring out the official PIU rotary tool for some custom modification to the shell. We ended up breaking the shell beyond repair, just like in the Aero Teardown!
Up in Them Guts
With the aluminum and carbon fiber shell cut away we only need to remove a layer of thermal tape to gain access to the internal chassis and electronics. On the far left of the second picture you can see the negative connection point of the battery compartment. The gold piece in the center is the positive connection point. To the right of the positive connection is the primary circuit board. The haptic feedback module can be seen above the circuit board and the heater is to the right.
Isolated Airpath Confirmed
The Slick’s chassis is comprised of two halves held together with seven tabs. The chassis seals airflow in the top section of the unit a safe distance away from the electronics and battery. Fresh air enters from the top and travels down below the barrel until it reaches the openings below the heater.
The top picture is a closer look at the positive connection point for the battery which appears to be made of brass. The second picture shows the cotton thermal wrap that surrounds the heating chamber. In the bottom left of the third picture you get a closer look at the vibration module. Above that you can see all the connections on the primary circuit board including the Micro-USB port. To the right is the heating chamber unwrapped and pulled from its base.
Convection / Conduction Hybrid Heater
Here is the Slick’s entire heating assembly taken apart. From left to right you can see the silicone base, the metal spiral convection element, and the heating chamber. The black ceramic chamber is heated by a thin, battery efficient electrothermal wrap. The metal spiral rests in the center of the silicone piece being passively heated by the chamber. Fresh air is forced around the hot spiral and rapidly raises in temperature before passing up through your material. This style of hybrid heating provides the flavor and extraction benefits of convection with the low battery draw of conduction.
Black Ceramic Loading Chamber
Instead of standard white ceramic the Slick vaporizer uses the black ceramic loading chamber found in the Flowermate V5 Nano. Black ceramic is claimed to be more buildup resistant and easier to clean. We’re not positive we’re getting less buildup or if it’s just less visible but the chamber is definitely a snap to clean out with iso and q-tips.
